Was it only one week ago after a convincing win over the Tennessee Titans that pundits all over radio and TV were in love with our Chiefs and predicting that a team with the #1 rushing offense in the league, a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback, and a top-11 defense could surprise some of the “old guard” teams in the playoffs and possibly win a game or two?

Then came a less-than-inspiring 31-10 defeat at the hands of the Oakland Raiders last Sunday and suddenly our Chiefs were just plain lucky to even be in the playoffs, Todd Haley and Charlie Weis spent their days shooting spit wads at each other as they wallowed in their mutual hatred, and Matt Cassel probably wouldn’t be able to get his starting job back at the high school he attended, much less complete a pass in an NFL game.
Ahhhh, the joys of knee-jerk sports talk … emphasis on the “jerk”.
